    March of the Bull Update 2

    ***MARCH OF THE BULL UPDATE #2*** Here is the tentative schedule for Bulls walk through Marion County.  Remember this is all fluid and can change so I will post daily updates in the morning on the two groups.   Right now we need support volunteers who wouldn’t mind following the procession with a truck or SUV that can carry water/snacks.

    At 12:44 on Friday Engine 36, Medic 36 and Engine 44 responded to a vehicle accident on the shoulder of northbound I-25, one mile south of Ridgegate Parkway. A box truck collided with the concrete barrier, which caused a 110-gallon diesel tank in the cargo area to rupture and leak.

    At 10:31 on Friday morning South Metro Engine 42 was dispatched to a fire alarm activation reported by an alarm company. Upon arrival at 6354 S. Richfield Street, no problems were evident from the street. As Local 2164 members knocked on the front door and conducted a 360-degree walk around the home, smoke was seen coming from vents along the basement.

    Highway 67 Brush Fire

    Just after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, Local 2164 members were requested for an automatic aid wildland fire on the north side of Highway 67 west of Rampart Range Road in the Pike National Forest. With a Red Flag and High Wind Warning in effect and 60 mph wind gusts being observed; a pre-evacuation area was established from Sugar Creek to Sedalia and additional resources were called.

    **THE MARCH OF THE BULL UPDATE** I know everyone has been on the edge of their seats awaiting word on Bull’s arrival to Marion County and after talking to his Logistics Team yesterday we have a more definite picture of his arrival.  Bull in currently making his way across Orange County which is the department he retired from before starting his walk.

    Just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday April 17th, Local 2164 members assisted Castle Rock Fire Rescue with a wind driven structure fire in the 4800 block of N. Foxtail Drive. Simultaneous wildland fires near Larkspur and Sedalia were also challenging firefighters from all Douglas County fire districts, including South Metro.

    2018 Benefit Road Race and Walk

    Our Mother's Day Benefit Road Race and Walk is scheduled for Sunday May 13, 2018. Walk begins at 8:30 am. Kids 1k Fun Run at 9:00 am. The 5k race begins at 10:00 am. The race proceed will benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
    Local 772 Announces the passing of Lt. David Dow (Ret)

    Local 772 sadly announces the passing of Lieutenant David Dow (retired). David passed away on April 13, 2018, from a long battle with brain cancer. A Firefighter's funeral has been requested by the family and local 772.

    At around 11:30 April 10th, Local 2164 members from Station 41 extinguished this diesel pick up truck fire on Cottontail Lane before it could spread to the dry grass. No one was injured and the cause is under investigation. http://www.southmetro.
    June 2, 2018: MDA Muscle Walk

    The Muscular Dystrophy Association will be having its annual Muscle Walk on June 2nd at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Matt Abdifar, of New Britain Local 992 has created a Muscle Walk Team named, IAFF Fire Fighters.

    The city of Demopolis AL is playing politics with public safety. By having as few as 2 fire fighters on each fire truck, the city is ignoring nationally accepted science and studies that prove a minimum of 4 fire fighters per truck is the most efficient and safe way for fire fighters to protect their community.

    At 1:45 p.m. on Thursday April 12th, Local 2164 members responded to a hazardous materials incident at 5340 S. Quebec Street in Greenwood Village. 3 Employees in one of the offices experienced eye and throat irritation after being exposed to an unknown powder and they dialed 911. 13 units responded to the scene including the SMFR Haz-Mat and Decontamination apparatus.

    At 2:16 p.m. on Sunday, April 8th multiple 911 callers reported a small vegetation fire burning along the Cherry Creek just south of the Cottonwood Bridge in Parker. The first member from Local 2164 arrived on scene 3 minutes later and discovered a fast moving grass fire spreading into the trees with no structures threatened.

    On April 7th Chief Tim Bailey, FF Dave Jenks, FF Colin Ryle & FF Jon McNamara ran the 5th Annual League School 5k to raise awareness & support for Autism. Lt.
